April 2019 Printable Calendars
April is the second month of spring and fifth month of Julian and fourth month of Gregorian calendar. Also, April is the second month of Old Roman calendar. April has a length of 30 days and second of five months which have 30 days. April is generally associated with the spring season in the Northern hemisphere regions, while it is associated with the autumn season in the southern hemisphere regions. According to hemispheres, the opposite month is October. For this reason, these months can be regarded as equivalent.
The Romans gave for this present month the Latin name Aprilis; however, the deduction of this name is questionable. The customary historical background is from the verb aperire, "to open", in suggestion to its being the season when trees and blooms start to "open", which is upheld by correlation with the advanced Greek utilization of άνοιξη (ánixi) (opening) for spring. Since a portion of the Roman months were named out of appreciation for divinities, and as April was holy to the goddess Venus, her Veneralia being hung on the main day, it has been recommended that Aprilis was initially her month Aphrilis, from her proportionate Greek goddess name Aphrodite (Aphros), or from the Etruscan name Apru. Jacob Grimm recommends the name of a theoretical god or legend, Aper or Aprus.
